Aunt Jill

On Friday night I babysat for my nephew while my sister and her hubby went to their work holiday party (they both work for Columbia Association). My niece was sleeping over at a friend’s house, which I expected would make my night much easier as the two of them can be a bit rowdy together. However, Scotty is at a stage where he tends to flip out when his parents leave him. He’s okay if they’re going somewhere not-fun like work, but he knew they were going to a party and he did not appreciate not being invited. After they left and he threw a fit like none I’ve ever seen from him and I ended up taking him to Dunkin’ Donuts for dinner. He had the chocolate glazed (my favorite also, by the way) while I had a refreshing Mocha Blast from the Baskin Robbins side of the store. Yes, I did it. I gave a three year-old a chocolate donut for dinner. It was an obvious act of desperation, but darnit, it worked like a charm. I was wishing I had my camera with me as he sat there grinning with chocolate crumbs all over his face. I have worked my way back to “cool aunt” status, thank you very much. Or should that be “aunt who is a sucker and will give you whatever you want”?  Same thing, I guess.

Here are a couple self-portraits of us. This was also a good arm workout…it’s hard to hold a camera that heavy at arms length, I gotta tell ya.

Jill and Scott again

I just love those big cheeks and ears!
